Just wanted to let everybody know about a thing called "doctor's mess that exists at every hospital throughout the UK! It basically is a lounge for doctors at the hospital, it's got massive couches, a kitchen WITH food, a TV, sky...can you bloody believe it?!
So, since us poor students don't even have a common room at our residences, karolin and I decided to walk to the petrol station, get chocolate cake, loads of candy and beer, crash the mess and enjoy the facilities at the hospital! =D
cheers there!!
healthy dinner!!
This is a blog about things I love and that make me really, really happy, like music, food, friends, flowers, feminism, art, books, poetry, travels, photos...♥

London calling
Sooo, finally some updates on my exciting life over here...
When David was around we went for London for the weekend, which I was really excited about, since I LOVE London and I haven't been there in quite a while (well except for the gig last week, but I didn't really spend much time walking around the city then). And since we've all been to London several times before, we didn't have to waste time sightseeing and could just enjoy a more alternative program of just wandering around, getting lost on markets and in vintage shops, enjoying nightlife, just being there and soaking up the atmosphere, I think it is so beautiful, exciting, vibrant, creative, alive, crazy, cool, eclectic, alluring, everything you want it to be...I'm just in love with it!!
Sooo here's some impressions of us strolling around Camden, Hackney...AND Bloomsbury festival, which I loved by the way! It was a really nice little festival, mainly located in Russel Square and it had a band playing, all kinds of arts and crafts stalls, loads of homemade food (most important fact), children stuff and most of all it was GREAT for poeple watching, one of my favorite things to do =)

Mein Name Ariane, ich glaub' an keine Fahne, I am a Reggae Gypsy, can make you feel so tipsy
Sad news today! Ari up, front woman of THE SLITS has died at age 48 yesterday!!
She was born in Munich, raised in London and founded THE SLITS in 1976 being only 14 years old, one of the first all girl bands in the male dominated punk rock scene or music scene in general at that point of time...becoming a pioneer in the riot grrrl movement, being a rolemodel to The Sonic Youth, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre or Chicks on Speed. As Sex Pistols' John Lydon's stepdaughter and learning her guitar skills from The Clash's Joe Strummer as a child she was predetermined to grow up to be a creative libertine and inventor of their distinctive punk reggae sound and be touring with The Clash, The Buzzcocks and Subway Sect before she has even turned 18!!
The Slits already split (play on words, HA) up again in 1981, but Ari carried on making music in different other bands and as a solo artist and to enchant the scene with her Germaican English, beautiful!!
Her death is definitely a big loss for the music scene but I'm sure everyone will keep her in loveing memory as a beautiful mind, wonderful artist and a real riot grrrl!!!

Visitors from Germany
Yesterday Dave came to Bournemouth to visit us here in our beautiful beachtown and Karo hadn't been to the beach so far either, so we went strolling along the seaside showing off with our current residence, went for coffee, took some lovely photos, went for dinner and then to see "the social network"...really, really good movie!! I love the way it's cut and the music and I think it's really impressive how fast it spread but it also makes you overthink human nature and all this "21st century internet shit" again...
beautiful, I could definetly get used to THAT!
♥
we obviously like our new home
aren't we lovely?! ;)
the pier, it's for kids, I love it!!

The Hangover
Sooo, no Blog yesterday, but I just couldn't be bothered cause I was just way too hungover to even move or EAT, which should be proof enough of how bad my condition was!! ;)
How that could happen?!
Well, since some of you where nice enough to "like" my short story I sent in for this competition on facebook, I apparently came second and they put my name on the guestlist. So when I went there to collect my ticket I was also given a wristband for the after show, sooo cool! The show was at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, which is a great venue, really beautiful old theater with loads of Jugendstil ornaments on the balconies. And there I was standing in the crowd and decided that if I could go see a gig all by myself, I might aswell get drunk all by myself (in public), so I got a pint and then a good spot to see and enjoyed the support acts, which were great! Brigitte Aphrodite, I adored you!!! (You should really check her out at myspace, sooo good!!!)
And Kate's show afterwards was AMAZING, she totally smashed us, the crowd just went mad, singin along every single word of almost all the songs, I've never seen anything like that before!!!
Unfortunately they had closed down the bar by the end of the gig and the merch was sold out of records, so I just went upstairs for the aftershow with a quick side trip to the toilet, where I met so many nice girls discussing those festival panties for girls they make now. Having arrived at the party, I got myself another drink and decided that I might aswell start talking to people instead of hanging out all by myself...Everyody was really lovely, but after a while I found out that I definetly was the only person at the party that wasn't in one way or the other related to or friends with any of the band an crew members (I mean if they've given me a wristband they must've given one to a million other people...well, apparently not), shit, that was embarassing and made me feel slightly uncomfortable!! But since I was there, I thought I should have a good time, kept talking to everybody and got to know some family members of the band who happend to be from the Bournemouth area and were nice enough to buy me a drink and introduce me to EVERYBODY which made me feel even more uncomfortable! I guess Kate wasn't too pleased when I came up to her to ask for a picture and looked at me a little baffled because she probably didn't expect anybody else but friends and family to hang out at her party...but she was really polite, allthough I thought she was slightly annoyed by my presence, but I can't blame her!
I assumed since they had given me one, there'd be probably a million other people that got one, apparently I was wrong! (Please ignore the fact that I look totally horrible in this picture)
Oh well, so I just waned to go back and say bye to my new friends and thank them for the drink when they introduced me to some more people and bought me another drink, which I thought was sooo nice! Then Kate ended up coming over to talk to them and looked at me wuite irritated for still hanging around and then I said something like "I just wanted to tell you that I'm not some sort of stupid groupie anging around, I sent in a short story and when I got here tonight, they gave me this wristband and since they closed the bar downstairs, I thought I might aswell come up and check out what's going on blablabla" OH MY GOD, I made a total fool of myself and everytime I think about it I get embarrassed all over again!! =(
Oh dear, oh dear...
Oh dear, oh dear...
When I got back to the hostel eventually it was around half one and I guess my room mates weren't too happy about me coming in that late and then again after 3 hours of lying around trying unsuccessfully to sleep, getting up again. Geeez, I was feeling horrible when I got up and getting dressed in the toilet because I couldn't find the bathroom didn't make it any better, but since I had to work that day I had to get going...So I got a cab, bought myself some breakfast which I couldn't either smell nor eat, got on my train at 5,30 back to Bournemouth, was nearly sick at the train several times, got another taxi to the hospital and arrived just in time for the wardround at 8, yay! Haven't felt that bad in quite a while but it was absolutely worth it!!!

Cherry coke is nasty!!
Hey everyone!
Just a quick check-up on events over here...First day at the hospital today, which was a little bit overwhelming considering the amount of information that was given to me and appointments at the accommodation office, health department, main reception etc and the many new faces and names I am supposed to remember...I'm still completely disoriented wandering around the hospital, but I'm sure I'll get there soon!!
Beside being confused, I was in the clinic with a very lovely doctor today (since my consultant was nowhere to be found), who even spoke some German, for her mom's German, seeing some patients and catching up on the vocabulary I need. That was nice!
When I returned to the ward there was nobody there, so I decided to just get some stuff organized and go home and ready to go to London, to see KATE NASH tonight, yaaay, sooo excited!!!♥
One more thing I have to tell you! I got myself a soda on the way, thinking it was regular diet coke, but it turned out to be CHERRY diet coke, that is sooo disgusting!! I didn't even know stuff like that existed! Who would even drink that?! Managed to spill in all over my hands and scarf aswell, so very successful in the skill's department again! ;)
Alright, now I'll get something to eat, get off those fancy hospital clothes and change into something more appropriate for a concert and then I'm off to London!! Yaaaaay!!!♥

exploring new territory
After waking up this morning around ten with the sun shining through my window -which presented a flawless blue sky to my still tired eyes- and staying in bed for another hour doing knitting, I decided the weather was far to good and too much of a rarity in the UK to stay in bed all day!! So I got up and ready to take the bus to Christchurch...where I missed my designated bus stop at first, but since over here bus stops are only about 150 m away from one another and the sun was still shining I didn't mind very much. There I was, wandering around, finding a circular path along the water, where I came across a beautiful bench, that apparently had just been waiting for me to sit on it...so I slouched on the bench, peoplewatching, listening to music, enjoying the warmth of October sun, life in general and the sight of the cutest dog ever, who had the time of his life chasing swans through the water, causing the indignation of nearly all passers-by and seemingly inappropriate laughter on my side =)
When I finally decided to go back and was standing at the bus stop already, it occured to me that I had almost forgotten the most important part of my trip; buying booze to welcome Karolin in style and to predetermine the direction this stay is about to take ;) So I got some champagne and rosé and returned to the bus stop to find out I had just missed the bus and now had to wait for about 90 minutes for the next one...at first I thought about catching a cab back, but since I had already paid for my return ticket, I decided to find myself a nice and sunny spot again, so I sat in a park, listened to some nice tunes, ate raddish and took some notes on my cell phone, since I didn't have anything to write with me.
After waiting for more than an hour, I found out I had lost my return ticket and after returning to the bus stop I found out that I missed my bus AGAIN!!! Unfortunately that had been the last bus for the day, since it is sunday and I ended up catching a cab! Oh well...
Having returned, I cleaned the kitchen, which was in an unacceptable condition, did some more knitting, cooked myself some dinner and now I am waiting for Karolin to finally arrive, I'm so excited!!! Even more since I haven't been able to talk to anyone but myself and the girl at topshop in 2 days, for this block of residences is DESERTED!!! That's horrible, even more for me, who has a very strong urge to communicate (just in case anybody didn't know, yet).
Okay, I'm off to pick up Ms Weber, get drunk and TALK! x
Soundtrack of the day BORN RUFFIANS and KATE NASH ♥
