You must be loving your life in the rain - England, I'll miss you

I can't believe I'm going back to Germany just yet!
I can't believe it's already been 2 months that I've spent here!
I can't believe how much I felt at home here right away!
I can't believe it's only been raining for about a week while I was here!
I can't believe not to see the sea everyday anymore!
I can't believe I won't see my new friends I made here everyday anymore!
I can't believe I have to leave!

All I know is, England, I'm going to miss you and I'll be back before you know it!!

Long time no see

Well, I haven't written anything in a while, but to be honest I just had to ENJOY living over here!!!
I went to London once again to catch up with another old friend from Germany, who was there at the same time staying at a friends house, where I could stay as well for the first couple of days!
That was really nice, because we hadn't seen eachother in quite a while, except for a friends wedding in July, but you obviously don't have that much time to talk at an event like that...What we did basically during those days was shopping, eating and drinking rosé, which I really very much enjoyed ;)

On friday my sister flew in from Hamburg to visit me, which I was soooo excited about, because since we all live in different cities now, we obviously don't get to see eachother that much anymore...and it was LOVELY to see her again!! After I had picked her up at Liverpool Street station, we went straight to Brick Lane, for some lunch and more importantly, for a whole lot of vintage shopping, which to our great satisfaction, went very succesfully!!!

The next day we proceeded the shopping, but changed locations to Camden, where Lisa had never been before and of course LOVED IT (since there is this magnificent food market, there was clearly no doubt ~QUOTE: "Can we please stay here all day and just eat?!", and that was basically what we did)

To end the day we had to make a trip to Oxford Street ~on a saturday!! And no, we're not suicidal, but Lisa was searching desperately for a velvet dress and thank God H&M had them and saved the day!
Unfortunately the tube was so crowded, it was was mayhem!!! So we walked home...and went for dinner!
Sweet life!

What a lovely weekend!

Happy Halloweeeen

I know I'm late, but I suppose you're still interested, HA ;)

Halloween is the best and for some reason it doesn't seem all fake over here!! I already got all excited when we bought some skull shaped candy, spider webs, fake blood ect at Tesco Express in London, but by the time I had finally thought of a costume and then how to realise my plans I couldn't wait!!! The only hurdle I still had to take was going to a DIY market and find some wire, which didn't turn out to be as easy as I had expected it to be...well, I succeeded in the end and made 8 beautiful glittery spider legs, which are amazing!! I also managed to stick them onto myself, which I was quite proud of...

So the fancy dress problem was sorted and we only had to buy some booze for pre drinking at the F1s flat, easy! Since dressing up took longer than expected we just went to the petrol station and bought some vodka and orange juice, which turned out to be concentrate and the most horrid thing I ever had and which made me the cause of huge hilarity for not anticpating it to be the above, urgh! So nasty!

When we arrived at "ARUBA" which was announced to be "a huge shithole and a cattlemarket", it was really not as bad as expected...Yeah, there definetly were some hussies around, but you could see the ocean from the dancefloor, which completely made up for that!!
Unfortunately Karolin took off by herself after about 5 minutes and 3 Tequila, to personally enchant all the men at the party, so I was pretty much left by myself, nice! Well, I knew SOME people, but not that well PLUS I wasn't drunk enough, yet to think that was funny. But luckily I've got the best room mate ever, who, on his side has the lovliest girlfriend ever, who took me everywhere they went all night long and also as the night moved on, my alcohol level was rising, so I didn't mind very much anymore!

After all the party turned out to be loads of fun and everybody was really nice and quite pissed at the end of the night, especially Marc, who is Garwei's flatmate in Southampton and of whom I had heard quite a few storiesn already, but now the time had finally come for me to witness him live and completely in his element, which basically means, going MENTAL!! Throwing tea spoons out the window, chips and onions, Customising my kitchen cupboard with Garwei's green coloured hair spray, jumping around the kitchen bare bottomed etc, it was fun to watch, though!

getting our feet wet

Since the weather on Monday was just too nice to go back to work after lunch, we decided to skip the afternoon at the hospital and went to the beach instead. Nice, I definetly could get used to that!!
And because last weekend when we were walking back from Boscome to Bournemouth on the beach (heavily loaded with our newest purchases from Primark), we've decided to go surfing, we thought we should check the temperature first; just to be on the safe side. So we took our shoes off and got our feet wet, as for my part, trousers aswell! But it was sooo nice, I loved it (except for the part when I had to run about a mile back, because I had dropped one of my socks and had to save it before the tide would catch it)! Can't wait to go surfing now! I just hope it won't rain on the weekend and that we'll get some good waves!! I'm excited!!

can you see the ocean underneath my feet?!

MESSin' around

Just wanted to let everybody know about a thing called "doctor's mess that exists at every hospital throughout the UK! It basically is a lounge for doctors at the hospital, it's got massive couches, a kitchen WITH food, a TV, sky...can you bloody believe it?!
So, since us poor students don't even have a common room at our residences, karolin and I decided to walk to the petrol station, get chocolate cake, loads of candy and beer, crash the mess and enjoy the facilities at the hospital! =D

                    cheers there!!

                       healthy dinner!!

London calling

Sooo, finally some updates on my exciting life over here...
When David was around we went for London for the weekend, which I was really excited about, since I LOVE London and I haven't been there in quite a while (well except for the gig last week, but I didn't really spend much time walking around the city then). And since we've all been to London several times before, we didn't have to waste time sightseeing and could just enjoy a more alternative program of just wandering around, getting lost on markets and in vintage shops, enjoying nightlife, just being there and soaking up the atmosphere, I think it is so beautiful, exciting, vibrant, creative, alive, crazy, cool, eclectic, alluring, everything you want it to be...I'm just in love with it!!
Sooo here's some impressions of us strolling around Camden, Hackney...AND Bloomsbury festival, which I loved by the way! It was a really nice little festival, mainly located in Russel Square and it had a band playing, all kinds of arts and crafts stalls, loads of homemade food (most important fact), children stuff and most of all it was GREAT for poeple watching, one of my favorite things to do =)

Mein Name Ariane, ich glaub' an keine Fahne, I am a Reggae Gypsy, can make you feel so tipsy

Sad news today! Ari up, front woman of THE SLITS has died at age 48 yesterday!!

She was born in Munich, raised in London and founded THE SLITS in 1976 being only 14 years old, one of the first all girl bands in the male dominated punk rock scene or music scene in general at that point of time...becoming a pioneer in the riot grrrl movement, being a rolemodel to The Sonic Youth, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre or Chicks on Speed. As Sex Pistols' John Lydon's stepdaughter and learning her guitar skills from The Clash's Joe Strummer as a child she was predetermined to grow up to be a creative libertine and inventor of their distinctive punk reggae sound and be touring with The Clash, The Buzzcocks and Subway Sect before she has even turned 18!!
The Slits already split (play on words, HA) up again in 1981, but Ari carried on making music in different other bands and as a solo artist and to enchant the scene with her Germaican English, beautiful!!
Her death is definitely a big loss for the music scene but I'm sure everyone will keep her in loveing memory as a beautiful mind, wonderful artist and a real riot grrrl!!!

Visitors from Germany

Yesterday Dave came to Bournemouth to visit us here in our beautiful beachtown and Karo hadn't been to the beach so far either, so we went strolling along the seaside showing off with our current residence, went for coffee, took some lovely photos, went for dinner and then to see "the social network"...really, really good movie!! I love the way it's cut and the music and I think it's really impressive how fast it spread but it also makes you overthink human nature and all this "21st century internet shit" again...

beautiful, I could definetly get used to THAT!

we obviously like our new home

                     aren't we lovely?! ;)

the pier, it's for kids, I love it!!
