Amy flies in paradise
I can't remember having ever cried about a celebrity passing, but today, for the first time, I did! I can't describe how sad I am about Amy Winehouse's death!! Maybe the fact that it seemed so avoidable, and that there was always the hope inside of me, she'd make it eventually and defeat her addiction, is what makes it even worse, or the fact that she was only 2 years older than myself.
I'm not sure, all I know is that the world lost a "once in a generation" talent!! To compare her to others would do her no justice!! The feeling for a song and the brutally honest, heart breaking and most of all brilliantly well put lyrics, combined with her voice and the way she sung them made them those unique masterpieces, tugging at your heartstrings, that will last!!
I once heard her say in an interview that she didn't write songs because she wanted her voice to be heard or because she wanted to be famous, but only because she needed an emotional outlet.
And that pretty much sums it up, she never made a fuss about her person, her talent or her work, which everybody praised as genious, she said "I'm not that important, I'm just a gal that sings, you know what I mean, it's not brain surgery" I think it was rather the other way around, I don't know if she was ever aware of how brilliant she really was...and maybe never wanting all the attention combined with her seemingly low self esteem (not sure if that is the right word for it) was what broke her in the end. She obviously didn't give a fuck about what people thought or what was in the papers about her, she had more of a punk rocker attitude about it, which is what made me love her even more. But having the whole world lusting after a new excess or fall from grace and almost laughing at your state of health or mind, waiting in front of your house, while struggeling with your personal problems doesn't neccessarily make it easier I suppose.
It broke my heart to see her on stage on drugs, underselling herself, not being able to shine because she was too drunk or high, beeing booed and having the world laugh at her misery while she seemed to be more and more lost and alone.
But that is not what should be remembered, but rather the real Amy, the one who was incredibly talented, an amazing songwriter and singer, charming, funny and who lived in the moment and didn't give a shit: "I've come to the realisation that life is short, you might aswell enjoy it" and I bet she did!!!
♥AMY FLIES IN PARADISE♥
She spoke until one day she couldn't be heard
She just stopped singing
Amy was the morning, now she's gone
She's reborn like Sarah Vaughan
!!!RIP Amy, we will miss you!!!

Loving the mud!
Been to Southside festival his weekend, at first it was rainy as usual which established the mud, but then eventually the sun came out and it was really nice, well not really nice, but dry!
This year's lineup was absolutely brilliant! And to me it was the festival of the LADIES!!! which I think is wonderful, cause I can still remember festivals a couple of years ago when Kate Nash or Skin from Skunk Anansie wese about the only women on th entire lineup, SAD! But all the more reason for joy!
My absolute favourite was WARPAINT, they were so incredibly cool and played a brilliant show, I think I'm a bit in love with all of them, such COOL girls!
Lykke Li was another highlight of the festival!! She had this amazing intro and lightshow and people were so up for it and excited, the atmosphere was really how it should be at festivals, celebrating music together and everyone being friendly and loving it! She was dancing and spinning around like a whirlwind or like a wild animal somehow, but seemed quite reserved at the same time, I can't really find the right words but it was GREAT!
Further ladies that rocked were Régine Chassagne from Arcade Fire who plays about EVERY instrument, very impressive! Alison Mosshart from the kills who smashed the audience or Laura Mary Carter from Blood Red Shoes, really cool girl as well!!
The remaining lineupt was ace aswell, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Brithish Seapower, Portugal The Man, The Vaccines, Digitalism, A Trak, Crookers, Kaiser Chiefs, The Wombats etc, etc
So the weekend was a great success and I was so pleased to see the ladies conquering the big festivals, NICE, cause grrrls rock!

MEN make music
I went to see MEN live in Frankfurt yesterday and it was just RAD!! I can't really find the right words to explain how incredibly good it was! It was electrifying, inspiring, exciting and soooo much FUN!!! Their performance as a band was AMAZING and JD Samson is one of the coolest, most fascinating, energetic people I've ever seen on a stage in my life! When she's talking to the audience she seems almost shy and then she puts on that unbelievably great show, she get's all merged in it
I was so excited to finally get to see them live, since I unfortunately missed them at Ladyfest in London last year but it was worth the wait! I obviously didn't take any photos since I was so busy dancing through the entire gig, can't remember ever sweating like this before, I was completely soaked after the gig, but sooooo so happy!!!
Unfortunately there were no videos from the gig in Frankfurt or recent club shows, so I choose this one, enjoy!
